Staying in Sandown on the Isle of Wight, we decided to visit the Needles. But it’s far more fun to do it the hard way and drive the coastal roads. Driving along we came to a pretty little spot called Brook Bay, home to Brook Beach.
A pretty Sandy beach, Brook Beach is a popular summer spot with surfers, but is also well known to fossil collectors. Near Hanover point, visible at low tide is a fossilised forest with dinosaur footprints embedded in the sandstone. Definitely a spot for my summer visit list.
October in the Isle of Wight, like most of the UK, is always going to offer variable weather. From a travel photographer’s point of view, you are there, and conditions are what they are, so just look for the shots. I would have liked to explore this beach a bit more, but it was cold and windy and not great to be out in that spot. The view along the coast could not be ignored, with it’s ruggedness and distant chalk cliffs. We had to stop and grab the photos, which would look fantastic on a sunny summer day.
