Here’s an interesting view of the durban skyline from the pier at Bay of Plenty. Waves break on the beach, and it looks like there is a surfer in the water.
The Durban skyline feaatures a mix of old and new buildings. That’s particularly interesting to me. A huge re-development of the Durban beachfront occurred in time for the 2010 All Africa games.
I lived in Durban for three years, ending in 1981. Until I was 18, our annual holiday to the Kwazulu-Natal South Coast always featured a Durban visit. Here, in 2017 there are still older buildings and parts of the beachfront which are recognisable.
While Durban is still one of my favourite cities, with many memories, I do still prefer the Kwazulu-Natal coastline as a place to get away. Like our trip to Umdloti in 2017, which, of course, was the reason for this Durban visit.
