The sunset off the town of Oia on Santorini is world famous and attracts many visitors to the viewpoints and pathways of Oia.

Having seen the sunset from the land the day before, we decided to take a boat trip the following day, and experience the sunset, among other things, from the water.

What a great experience.

Leaving from the harbour at Fira, with mixed bunch of festive torists, the boat visited the volcano and the hot springs. A Greek al fresco dinner was had tied up at the island of Thirassia. The boat then headed across the caldera towards the more northerly point of Santorini at Oia.

Timing was perfect. We arrived at Oia just before the sunset, to be serenaded by an on board saxophinist (apparently a musician well known in Greece), under full sail.

There were a few boats around, and this was one of them.

This picture remains a favourit, a memory of a beautiful moment in time.
